Marking the Occasion
Florists throughout the state are ready to help couples celebrate their big day with flowers

Traditionally, flowers have been used to mark important events in people’s lives. That has not changed during the pandemic.
“Flowers are so special because they are never the same, just like us,” Megan Robinson, owner of Blossom Cleveland, says. “Flowers are used in all of the biggest life events one has, from birth to death, and that is so special.”
This is true for weddings, too, and the state is home to many florists that are still working to assist couples.
Blossom Cleveland in Northern Ohio is one such place. “We are a full-service florist with a modern twist,” Robinson says. “We created an experience where you can walk into our store anytime during business hours and build your own bouquet.” The business has two locations, one in Lakewood and another in Shaker Heights.
Blossom Cleveland offers full service at both locations. “Both locations offer daily deliveries, sympathy arrangements, private events and the build-your-own bouquet bar,” Robinson says. “We offer full-service event design and are currently booking 2022. Finally, we have a flower cart that brings the stem bar to you!”
Her favorite flowers offered through the business are the colorful ones. “I love color. Anything colorful has our name all over it,” Robinson says.
Carly Messmer Floral Design in Cincinnati has been designing wedding floral displays since 2015. The inspiration behind starting the business came when she was living in the south.
“I was living in Charleston, South Carolina, and fell in love with the wedding and flower industry. I took classes and started interning on weekends,” Carly Messmer, owner and lead designer, says. “When I moved back to my hometown of Cincinnati, I launched Carly Messmer Floral Design as a full-time business.”
The business is “an event-based studio that specializes in full-service wedding design,” she says. The services offered through Carly Messmer Floral Design include pre-wedding services such as mock-ups, venue visits and consultations, and post-wedding clean-up.
Messmer loves “meeting with my couples and their families and being a part of such an important day for them,” she says. “It’s an honor to contribute to the vision and design of their wedding day.”
She is excited to connect with people in the midst of the pandemic. “Most of our 2020 brides did postpone to 2021, so I’m looking forward to a busy and joyful year this year,” Messmer says.
